With beautiful beaches, historical sites and some amazing attractions, Tunisia’s certainly making a name for itself as a family friendly destination. If you’re visiting the African country with children, the Carthage Land theme park is a must-see!
Located in the popular tourist resort of Hammamet Yasmine, the park is definitely the centre of attention. After opening in August 2003, it became Africa’s first ever theme park.
The park has a traditional Tunisian/Roman style, keeping in touch with the old Hammamet medina that’s located nearby. Large statues line the entrance under huge archways – so you can’t miss it! As you make your way into the park, you’ll get the chance to have your picture taken with tiger cubs; a great photo for the family album.
Check out the park’s great rides, including log flumes, mini rollercoasters and bumper cars. There’s also a mini waterpark – a welcoming sight to everyone on a hot summer’s day!
For the youngsters, there’s a farm yard area where they can get up close and personal with some of the animals, including the likes of goats, flamingos and peacocks, as well as other small animals.
The park is super cheap – with adult tickets costing just 12 Tunisian dinars (£5) and children 8 Tunisian dinars (£3). Inside the park there are no extra charges for any of the rides, however tickets for the daily shows come with a small extra cost.
For great places to stay in Tunisia, check out the 5* El Mouradi Hammamet Hotel, or its 4* sister hotel El Mouradi Menzah. Both are located only a five minute walk from the theme park, just ten minutes from the main marina and a few footsteps from the beach.
