• Halifax’s surrounding areas have a large number of wonderful sandy beaches, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, surfing and sand castles. There are a number of excellent cycle trails along the coastline, a great way to see the beautiful landscape. Atlantic Playland is an adventure park with plenty for kids and adults such as go-karts, bumper cars, mini-golf and waterslides; it is the perfect place for a fun day out.
• The city has a number of museums and historic buildings which are a great way to discover more about this fascinating area. The port itself is a great place to relax as well as a perfect place to watch the boats sailing in and out of the natural harbour.
• The Terence Bay Wilderness Area is a region sheltered by headlands an off shore islands. It is a great place to explore either by foot or by bike.
• Boat tours are the best ways to experience the Halifax region and its wonderful coastline. There are a number of tours that run from in and around the city. Also with the opportunity to go whale watching and see the spectacular humpback whales that live in the region.
• Alexander Keith’s Brewery is a fun afternoon; the 150 year old brewery is the oldest in the region. Tours are taken by actors in full 19th century dress explaining the brewing process followed by a tasting session.
• Halifax has a busy and exciting nightlife. There are a number of friendly and welcoming pubs and clubs in the centre of town as well as a number of nightclubs that open late into the night.
