Can I drink the tap water?

Best to play it safe and drink bottled water only.

What’s the 999 number?

Antigua and Barbuda emergency services are 999 or 911.

Shall I pack sun cream/anorak?

During high season you probably won’t need an anorak, but in the summer months rainstorms are likely. Make sure you pack your sun cream though as in the hot, tropical weather, you’ll need the protection!

How do I get around?

Jolly Beach is small enough that you can easily get around simply on foot and taking a walk around the area is a treat. But if you need to go a bit further, then taxis are the best way if you are not hiring a car.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

The island’s official language is English, so although you may here the locals speaking in their local dialect, you won’t need to worry about being understood.

Do I need to tip?

10-15% is the usual rate for tipping and some restaurants and hotels will add this on to the end of the bill. Also, porters will expect tips of 50 cents per bag.
