Anytime of year is a great time to visit Mamora Bay, the average temperature is 27oC but during the summer months (December to April) temperatures regularly top the 35oC mark. If visiting between July to November be sure to check the forecast before you travel as this time of year is traditionally hurricane season.
Mamora Bay is renowned for its coral reefs and it’s easy to book a snorkelling or diving trip. The fascinating array of multi-coloured corals are teeming with life and virtually guaranteed to see hundreds and thousands of brightly coloured fish and other sea critters.
Although the preferred past time in Mamora Bay involves a sunlounger, cocktail and the beach make sure you visit Nelson’s historic dockyard. At the height of the British empires power this base was a major stronghold for the British fleet in the Caribbean. The museum tells the story of the history of the dock including the 3 year period when the legendary Horatio Nelson served here.
There’s not much to fulfil the cravings of a shopaholic apart from a few tasteful local shops but don’t worry the vibrant capital of St. Johns is only a short journey away and is complete with designer boutiques and a traditional market.
