Garrison holidays

Garrison Insider Tips

Before you go on holiday it’s always useful to have some idea about the local customs and traditions of the place you’re visiting. Garrison is no different, so to help you avoid any awkward situations with the locals we’ve put together a few hints and tips so that your holiday goes as smoothly as planned.

When is the best time to go?

Garrison, and Barbados as a whole, are blessed with over 8 hours of sunshine year round, perfect weather for relaxing on Hastings exotic beach. The wet season is from July to November and during this time tropical storms and hurricanes are not uncommon. Always check the forecast before you decide to visit if you plan on travelling during the wet season.

Spectacular days out

The Garrison race course hosts a gold cup meet every year in March. Dust off your tuxedo and lucky hat and head down to the track and take a flutter on your favourite horse.

Hidden gems

George Washington house which sits atop Bush Hill is definitely worth a visit. The house was stayed in by the first president of the United States of America for 6 weeks in 1751 and houses some very interesting exhibits

How’s the shopping?

Garrison is not really a haven for the shopaholics among us. There are a few local shops which sell traditional souvenirs but if you need the bigger shopping malls and plazas head to Bridgetown
