Overview

The Allamanda Beach Hotel has a total of 50 rooms and is located on the picturesque south coast of Barbados. The hotel is directly opposite Hastings Plaza where there is some duty free shopping and a 4 minute walk from some of the islands best swimming at the world famous Rockley Beach, The Allamanda`s sister hotel Amaryllis Beach Resort is a 3 minute drive away on the inviting Palm Beach in the Garrison Historic area, and guests can use the facilities there which include snorkeling and free non-motorized water sports. Palm Beach is also the site of one of the most important Hawksbill Turtle nesting sites in the Eastern Caribbean. With effect from December 1st 2006, the Barbados airport departure tax will increase to 55.00 Bajan dollars for persons of 12 years and over who have been in Barbados more than 24 hours.

Please note that the boardwalk and beach directly in front of this hotel are currently closed and are estimated to re-open in August 2008. A frequent, daily shuttle service will be provided by the hotel to Amaryllis Beach Resort while the beach is closed or guests can take the short stroll to Rockley Beach, a few minutes away.

Also note that a payment of 1 US Dollar per person, per night is payable locally for the Tourism Enhancement Fund.

Eating And Drinking

The Allamanda Restaurant overlooks the pool and has ocean views. The menu is varied offering Bajan cuisine as well as traditional dishes and it is open between 7am and 11pm The Allamanda`s Beach Grill is situated directly on the beachfront and provides a varied snack and grill menu. Guests can also enjoy the various restaurants at the Amaryllis Beach Resort which include the 39 Steps Restaurant and Wine Bar, The Almond Tree Restaurant, the Turtle Nest Beach Bar, a coffee shop and cafe.

Allamanda is about 4 minutes drive from the 9-hole Rockley hotel golf course, 10 minutes drive from the capital city of Bridgetown, and 20 minutes drive from the airport. The hotel is located on the main bus route and a taxi service is always available. Nearby, guests will find shops, bars, restaurants, hairdressers, supermarkets, banks and a post office. The hotel`s guests also enjoy reduced green fees and prefered tee times at the 18-hole Barbados Golf Club, a 15 minute drive away.
