Beaches in Worthing

In this small Barbadian town, you’ll certainly find your daydreams of tranquil, crystal beaches realised. Worthing Beach itself is one of those postcard beaches, with clear waters and sand so white it’s difficult to look at it.

If you move east along Worthing Beach you’ll find that the waters become calmer and more suitable for beginner swimmers and children. There are also wonderful dive opportunites to be had here, where, just offshore, you’ll discover a coral reef teeming with beautiful and varied tropical fauna.

Towards the other end of the beach, heading westwards, you’ll find the waters become choppier and deeper, and will suit the more adventurous spirit on the waves.

Worthing Activities

Worthing is essentially a small, quite resort town – a coastal suburb of nearby Bridgetown. The beach is the central attraction – a place where you can roll out your towel under a deck chair. It is close to a larger, more bustling centre if you want to change scenery – but maintains a quite and tranquil atmosphere itself.

To emphasise the seclusion Worthing enjoys, there is one street where all the bars and restaurants are located. You can take a stroll along here at dusk, and stop off for a Caribbean beer and some ocean fare.

Alternatively you’ll find you can reach St Lawrence Gap on foot, in about 5 minutes, which enjoys a greater variety of nightlife and restaurants.

Worthing Nightlife

The Nelson Arms is a great laidback, local bar where you can head for a game of pool, a drink and some great cheap cuisine.

One of the other popular bars here is Gabriel’s Bar, with its exceptionally friendly staff.
