The hottest time of the year is August, with most tourists visiting June – September. If you fancy a quieter time, there is still plenty of sun and fun to be had out of the main holiday season, in late April and late September. The weather forecast in the Dominican Republic is invariably sunny, perhaps with cloud and the odd 5-minute shower, all year round!
The long white sandy beach is quiet and from here you will see one of the most beautiful sunsets on the island, possibly the world. Las Terrenas and it neighbor are home to some wonderful restaurants where you can eat fresh fish cooked on a beach BBQ, some vibrant bars and small hotels. One of the attractions is the lack of large all-inclusive resorts in the area.
During calving season (January - March) you can go whale-watching – a once in a life time sight you’ll never forget!
The town of Las Terrenas is home to a great supermarket and a stroll around the town is worth it. You’ll find shops selling beach clothes and some lovely pastry bakeries.

The official language is Spanish but in all-inclusive resorts English is widely spoken.
The sun shines all year round here so be sure to use plenty of sun cream. There are frequently rain showers but very rarely to they last more than 5 minutes! Locals own umbrellas but not raincoats.
The currency is the Dominican peso (RD$) but many places take US $.
It’s best to stick to bottled water here, just to be on the safe side.
