When is the best time to go?

The most popular time of year to visit is between December and April when the weather is at its best. While beaches and attractions may get crowded during this period, there are also plenty of festivals and activities to keep you entertained. If you're looking for a quieter break and don't mind a chance of rain, the off season is still hot and sunny and there are some great bargains to be had.

The main activity in Uvero Alto is relaxing on the picture-perfect beaches. The sea is great for swimming and snorkelling and there are a wide variety of water sports to keep you entertained. Away from the beach, you can explore the beautiful Punta Cana area with its national parks, quaint villages and bustling resorts.

Take a trip to the beautiful artists' village of Altos de Chavon, a creative community set within stunning terracotta buildings designed to look like a traditional European village.

How's the shopping?

For souvenirs, stock up on locally made goods like arts, crafts, textiles and jewellery. You can get some great deals on amber, a locally sourced stones, and on goods from surrounding countries like Cuban cigars and Haitian art – just don't forget to haggle!

Where can I get a burger?

Being a small resort, there isn't a huge choice of places to eat out in Uvero Alto, although you won't struggle to find international favourites like burger, pizza and chips. Try branching out and sampling the local cuisine, which makes the most of whatever seafood has been caught that day.

We recommend that you use bottled water to drink and brush your teeth, as the tap water may not agree with you.
