When is the best time to go?

It’s coolest between December and January, and this is generally the high holiday season. June to August are the hottest months, but also fall in hurricane season, which runs from June to November. December to March are your best bets!

Tap water is safe to drink but may taste a little strange!

In an emergency, call 911 for fire and ambulance, and 999 for the police.

Shall I pack sun cream/anorak?

If you visit between June and November, it’s advisable to bring both as it’s rainy season! The rest of the year, unless you plan to be disguising yourself as a lobster, sun cream is probably a good idea.

How do I get around?

Buses are cheap, and the drivers and passengers are generally friendly! If you fancy something a little quieter, you may want to get your hotel to call a taxi.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

The official language of St Lucia is English, but many people speak Creole too – picking a few phrases will always be appreciated!

10-20% depending on service is the norm.
