Trinidad and Tobago has two seasons that coincide largely with the high and low travel season. From January to May the islands experiences a dry season with mild temperatures without added precipitation and humidity. From May to December, the island experiences its wet season, with considerably more rainfall and cooler temperatures. Obviously the dry season is the most popular time to visit so will be pretty busy, people still visit in the wet season, but be aware that some tours and restaurants close. Carnival, a popular festival throughout the Caribbean, takes place in February and is full of music, dance, singing, and costumes.

Why not take an Eco Tour of the amazing rainforest. Tobago is largely made up of Forest Reserve. Far from the prepared tourist trails, it is still possible to observe over 200 different species of birds, reptiles and other native animals in their natural habitat. Hike along paths, you will pass brooks and hidden waterfalls and learn about Tobago´s flora and fauna from experienced tour guides.

Shopping in Trinidad:

Shoppers will find all the essentials available in Bacolet Bay itself, although the shopping scene on the Caribbean island of Tobago very much revolves around its capital of Scarborough and the neighbouring tourist resort of Crown Point. There is a large shopping mall (the Scarborough Mall), which is extremely popular and well worth searching out. The Scarborough Mall is open all week and is a good place to pick up gifts, such as leather sandals and bags, carved coconuts and shells, straw baskets, and various other locally made handicrafts.

Where shall I eat:

Eating in Tobago is a rewarding experience. From coast to coast and tip to tip the island cuisine is distinctive. Try the traditional local island foods of the curry crab and dumplings or Rotis, wash them down with a local juice. The Café Havana in Bacolet Bay is the new stylish restaurant associated with the Bacolet Beach Club and popular with tourists.

The most popular way is to hire a motorbike/scooter, these are easy to hire on the island, just make sure you wear a helmet, it is the law. There are taxis on the island, although this can be expensive as well and make sure you take the licensed taxis only (registration plates start with a letter H).
