When is the best time to go:
Tobago mostly has great all year round Caribbean temperatures. From January to May the island experiences a dry season and from May to December, the island experiences its wet season, with considerably more rainfall and cooler temperatures. People still visit in the wet season, but be aware that some tours and restaurants close. Carnival, a popular festival throughout the Caribbean, takes place in February and is full of music, dance, singing, and costumes.
Spectacular days out:
Take a trip to Fort Bennett where the British constructed a full-scale fort. This fort offers brilliant views over Stonehaven Bay and Great Courland Bay.
Take a visit to the nearby Arnos Vale Waterwheel, this was a sugar factory in times gone by, but now a restaurant and museum. The waterwheel is still intact, and dates back to 1857. Facilities include a restaurant, museum, gift shop and a small theatre. There are a number of nature trails, an Amerindian site and an old slave village.
How’s the shopping:
Stonehaven Bay has a small array of gift shops selling local products, but the main shopping scene on the Caribbean island very much revolves around its capital of Scarborough and the resort of Crown Point, near to the famous Buccoo Reef. In particular, there is a large shopping mall - the Scarborough Mall, which is extremely popular on Tobago and well worth searching out. There are a number of local markets on at the weekends, which are interesting, and you can pick up some local produce.

Eating in Tobago is a rewarding experience with much to choose from, there are many restaurants in the local area catering for all tastes. Seahorse Inn in Stonehaven Bay is a delightful setting on a terrace with views of the moon reflected on the sea, serving excellent international cuisine.

Why not hire a scooter to zip around the island, although be careful and make sure you wear a helmet. If you’re looking for something slower paced, take a bicycle and travel round the island exploring at your own pace.
