Jersey holidays in St Helier
The capital of Jersey one of the Channel Islands, affluent Saint Helier or St Helier is a delightful bustling port town full of character on the south coast of the island in St Aubin’s Bay.
St Helier is also a parish and whilst almost one third of the islanders live here, is actually mainly a rural area. The port is split into small harbours: Elizabeth, Albert, St Helier, English, Old Harbour, Victoria and French. Luxury yachts, fishing boats, ferries and smaller vessels sail in and out of the harbours, and along Albert Pier and Elizabeth Marina is a commercial centre with a fun swimming pool, restaurants, a gym and nightclub.
Exploring St Helier
The town centre of St Helier is paved and lined with a great variety of shops and stores, restaurants, bars and pubs. Whilst on holiday in St Helier, why not take a walking tour around the harbours or pay a visit to the Fortress Occupation or Maritime Museums? Liberation Square, Havre des Pas, Royal Square, Town Church or Bond Street – there are so many places to visit in St Helier!
There are a couple of lovely parks in St Helier too, a particular favourite being the Howard Davis Park which was once part of a family residence, and La Collette Gardens on Mont Cochon.
Beaches in St Aubin's
Take a short trip out of St Helier to the beaches on St Aubin’s Bay which are ideal for water skiers and windsurfers. Jet skiis and water skiing tuition is also available on La Haule Slip. Whilst St Helier runs along the south coast, the best beaches are just outside of the town centre.
