Beach and Party Vibes

Cyprus holidays are synonymous with beach breaks and party-filled getaways, with some of Europe’s most vibrant coastal party destinations located around the perimeter of the island. Ayia Napa is the premier destination for those seeking revelry in the sunshine, famed for its young party crowd, beautiful beaches and vibrant water sports scene. Larnaca is another great option for those hoping to get active in the water, boasting one of the best wreck dives in the continent with the Zenobia dive attracting many underwater enthusiasts to this corner of the island.

If you’re after a more sedate and relaxing beach break for your holidays in Cyprus, there are a number of more tranquil resorts that are more suitable for families than young partygoers. Polis is a great option, located on the west coast of the island, besides the beach, the resort boasts a stunning mountainous backdrop which is a thrill to explore. Latchi is another great option, billed as a sleepy resort and home to some aromatic and welcoming waterfront tavernas that will give you a unique flavour of Cyprus.

Culture and History

If you don’t fancy yourself much as a beach bum, holidays to Cyprus will also satisfy culture vultures who are interested in engaging with the history and identity of the country. There are a number of sites of ancient ruins, archaeological significance and bygone architecture, all waiting to be discovered by holidaymakers. Paphos is a great place to start, allowing you to explore numerous archaeological sites, the amazing Tombs of the Kings, Paphos Fort and the Odean – all key aspects of the country’s eventful past.

Limassol happily combines ancient sites with beautiful beaches, allowing you to flex both your beach bum and culture vulture muscles. Pay a visit to Limassol Castle and some of the area’s surrounding ancient cities, before giving yourself a day off on the soft sand. Finish off your history-filled escapade with some exploration around the capital Nicosia. The city’s architectural prowess that comprises churches, monasteries and mosques will keep you captivated throughout your time in the city.
