Paphos is a great choice for those of you looking for a blend of history, culture and a bit of relaxation on the beach. To make the most of your holiday, check out lowcostholidays.com’s insider tips; you never know, it might come in handy!

Spectacular nights out

There’s an interesting blend of Irish bars, plush hotel bars, cocktail lounges and Cypriot tavernas in Paphos. There are also a few clubs for the more serious evening reveler; head to “St Antonios Street” near the castle for a late night of dancing.

For a more informal and relaxed evening, why not check out the “Tomb of the Kings Road”, where most places are more family-friendly and chilled out.

Hidden Gems

The culture and history in Paphos is a great pull to this interesting resort. Sightseers won’t be able to contain themselves with the Palace of the Knights, the Temple of Athena, the Acropolis and the Church of the Panayia. Don’t forget your camera otherwise you’ll kick yourselves!

How’s the shopping?

Wade through the tat and tacky souvenirs and you will find craft boutiques, markets and even a Debenhams! You may want to check out the local lace, paintings and pottery, which make for excellent gifts on a Paphos holiday.

Where can I get a burger?

Dining is as diverse in Paphos; choose from British pub food to Mexican food and everything in between including fish and chip shops and fast food restaurants. Definitely try some of the local dishes if you can and if you can afford it, check out “Asiachi” at the Amathus Beach Hotel, where you will experience excellent food, service, atmosphere and ambience.

Get in with the locals...

Here’s some important information to remember when you’re on your Paphos holidays:

Can I drink the water?

  • We wouldn’t recommend you drink the tap water so stick to drinking bottled water.

What’s the 999 number?

  • Cypriot emergency services can be contacted on 112.

Shall I pack the sun cream?

  • Paphos gets really hot in the summer time so don’t forget to apply your high factor sun cream!

How do I get around?

  • Grab a taxi – it’s quite cheap in Cyprus, but make sure you agree a price before you get in.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

  • A few phrases always help but it’s not necessary as the locals speak good English.

Do I need to tip?

  • Tipping ranges from 5% to 10%, it's not compulsory but a good idea if you’ve had an enjoyable meal.
