A great festival to experience while in Protaras is the water festival, held over three days during the first weekend in June. This festival celebrates biblical events describing flooding of this region, with music, dances, poetry, boat races and more. Another great event not to be missed is the cultural festival, celebrating the strong folklore and poetry tradition of Protaras.

For a great day out during a holiday in Protaras, pay a visit to Larnaca. Here you will find exceptional diving facilities and wonderfully blue water, an incredibly interesting salt lake where you might find flamingos, or a 9th century church to explore. Also, a great place to spend a day, and night, would be Ayia Napa. This is more of a beach resort, with pubs, bars and music setting the tempo of this destination. So, if you are looking to unwind with a bit of a party, then this is your place.
