Prague Weather
City breaks to Prague are a perfect escape all year around. In winter, Prague’s snowy landscape and Christmas markets transform the city into a winter wonderland. In the warmer months you can sunbathe in the parks with scorching temperatures of 35°C. For the most temperate weather visit between May and September.
Getting Around
- Good news… Prague’s extensive public transport system is convenient, reliable and frequent. Trams, metro and buses are all widely available and you can save money with a travel pass.
- Prague is known as ‘the walk-able city’ so there’s always of the option of getting around by foot.
- TOP TIP! Don’t be cheated by con artists; ask ticket inspectors for proof of identification if they claim your ticket is invalid.
Tipping
It’s rare to see a service charge on your bill in Prague but 10% of the bill is the accepted amount for good service.
Language
The local language is Czech but there’s no need to panic, you will find most people in touristy areas will speak adequate English; it is handy to have a Czech phrasebook nethertheless.
Prague Shopping
Stores normally tend to open at 8am, closing at around 10pm with some even open 24 hours.
Pickpockets
Pickpocketing is prevalent in the capital so remember to keep all valuables in a safe place and be particularly aware in crowded, touristy areas.
Water
Don’t hesitate to fill up for drinking bottles especially in the summer. Tap water is perfectly safe to drink but hotels and restaurants are likely to provide you with bottled water.
