Famous for their fine white sand, the long beaches of Marco Island are lined with seafood restaurants, designer stores, and late night entertainment venues – making this the ultimate destination for a seaside break.

Attractions and Activities

The most obvious attraction on holidays to Marco Island would be the perfect beaches that surround this picturesque island. However, aside from swimming and soaking up the glorious Florida sunshine, you’ll also find a great selection of sports on offer here.

  • Boating is one of the main pastimes on the Island – from yachts and sailboats, through to speedboats, rowing boats and even pedalos! There is a fantastic range of aquatic fun to be had during a holiday to Marco Island, and activities that are safe for young kids.
  • Other sports that you’ll be able to enjoy include tennis, squash and volleyball. There are a number of top quality golf courses on the island for anybody keen to work on their game; on the other hand, anyone with a passion for fishing will be delighted by the range of great spots for sports and deep sea fishing just off the coast.

  • For those with an interest in nature, Marco Island offers some great habitats where you’ll be able to admire a number of rare or unusual species of birds and animals. The island is also recognised as an official sanctuary for the Bald Eagle.
  • Head to the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, and you’ll be able to explore 9,400 acres dedicated to preserving the region’s wildlife. The reserve hosts species of pelicans, snook, osprey, bobcats, deer, tortoises and snakes.

Nearby Places of Interest

Some of the other attractions you’ll be able to visit during a trip here include the picturesque archipelago known as the Ten Thousand Islands. This is a great destination for anyone who enjoys not only magical beaches, but dramatic cliffs and headlands as well. The islands can be found just to the south of Marco Island. Bonita Springsis also within driving distance.

Alternatively, head north to find the city of Naples – this is one of Florida’s more popular tourist destinations, and boasts a superb range of entertainments – including bars, cafes, museums, galleries, shops and nightclubs.
