  • Follow the Rue du Gros Horologe, or Big Clock, through the shopping area, leading to the antique clock tower of which the street is named. If you continue on, you will come to the Place du Vieux Marche, where a modern church stands. The cross you will find marks the location in which Joan of Arc was burned at the stake in 1431.
  • For the museum lovers, visit the Musee des Beaux Arts, which is host to a number of sculptures and paintings by renowned artists such as: Velazquez, Delacroix, Sisley and Monet. The Monet paintings include his work inspired by Rouen’s Cathedral Notre-Dame.
  • If you are looking to get out, Rouen is a fantastic base to see Normandy. Also, Giverny is nearby, so paying a visit to Monet’s home is easy.
