• The Baptistery of St. John is the oldest church in France. The central part of the building being built around the year 360, atop ruins left behind by the Romans. Through the years it has been renovated, but it doesn’t take away the awe-inspiring nature of it.

• Just outside of town is the site of the Battle of Tours, where the Moorish army was halted in its advance across Europe. Similarly, the Battle of Poitiers, in the 14th century, took place just outside of the town, and was one of three major successes for the English during the Hundred Years War.
