- For a history trip, visit Passau’s Old Town. A narrow strip of land between the River Denube and River Inn, the Old Town is perfect it you want to be transported back in time. Here, visitors can see all of the old flat-roofed buildings designed by Italian baroque architects in the late 17th Century. Most parts of the Old Town had to be re-built after terrible fires swept through it. You can also explore the Old Town Hall with its huge 19th century paintings, as well as the Neidernburg nunnery, which dates back to the 8th Century. Here, you will find the tomb of Gisela, the first queen of Hungary. Also make sure to visit the pretty Residenzplatz Square, where you can enjoy the old Toy Museum and Old Palace.
