- Halle boasts a market square with a medieval style church called Market Church St Mary (Marktkirche) and another church entitled St Gertrud Church which dates back to the 11th Century. Here also lies the original death mask of Martin Luther.
- Halle has a wide range of architecture from the Marktkirche’s four towers and the Toter Turm (Red Tower) which are seen as symbols of the city. It also has two Blue Towers which are so named because of their slate roofing in dark blue and are unique to the city.
- Halle has a variety of museums and music fans will love visiting the Beatles Museum in Halle and the Landesmuseum feur Vorgeschichte which are great holiday attractions if you’re sightseeing in the city.
- Those interested in history should visit the birthplace of composer George Handel which can be found in Halle. Known as Handel-Haus, this is worth a look and fans will also find the city has a monument to the composer in the market square.
- If you’re looking to explore the cultural side of Germany, you’ll find plenty of places to visit in Halle. Try visiting the Giebichenstein Castle to the north of the city’s centre. This castle, which can be found on the hill above the river Saale is believed to have been built around 961. Or why not visit Moritzburg, a castle built in the late 15th or early 16th century which was a residence for the archbishops of Madgeburg. If you love art, this is the place to visit as the building is now an Art Gallery.
