Kassiopi Holidays in 2013

The beaches are the main attraction in Kassiopi, you should visit all three, Bataria, Pipitos and Kalamionas as each has its own charms and attributes. There are a number of towns in the surrounding areas that are worth a visit if you’d like a break from the beach, such as old Perithia, Acharavi, Roda and Sidari. There are a number of good shops for those who love shopping both in Kassiopi itself and the surrounding towns. A great way to discover the beautiful coastline of the region is on a boat trip, there’s no better way to see the coves at Loustes, the Blue Lagoon or the bays of Avlaki or Soukia.

The town of Kassiopi has two traditional local bakeries that offer traditional cakes and ice cream, providing a real slice of Greek culture. The town is also home to the remains of a 13th century Byzantine Castle that was destroyed by the Venetians and a 16th century church called Panayia Kassopitra that stands on the ruins of a Greek temple.

Kassiopi is a popular seaside resort in Corfu and as such has a large number of hotels and villas. Many of the hotels are used to catering for families with children and have activities and entertainment available. There are also a number of villas and apartments in the town that are available for rent for those who would prefer to go self-catered.

Take a midnight diving trip or go do a wreck drive, there is a dive centre where you can learn to dive and hire equipment. You can take a boat trip to visit the beautiful Loustes coves, or the gorgeous bay at Avlaki. On land you can visit the old towns of Perithia and Roda, or you can take a romantic walk down by the harbour then stop off at Pearl Jewellery for a romantic token to remember your holiday by.

There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the town most of which stay open very late during the summer season. Try Trilogia it is a great place to have a traditional sit down meal or for something a little less formal check out Janis’ bar in its beautiful beach setting. Even though the town is small there is a lively bar and restaurant scene.

The town has a number of excellent hotels that are the perfect place to stay for a romantic holiday. The majority of the hotels are based on or close to the beach and within easy walking distance of the town’s amenities. There are also plenty of villas and apartment for rental for those who prefer to be self-catered.

Scuba diving is a very popular activity in the region around Kassiopi, the clear waters are the perfect place to explore the fascinating underwater world. You can take a number of diving trips some even during the night for a truly unforgettable experience. Many people choose to visit other bays and beaches along the coast and some even take a boat trip to neighbouring resorts.

The coastline of this particular part of Corfu is some of the most stunning and rugged on the island. If you can you should really go and see the blue lagoons and coves just along the coast, the best way being by boat if you can. Pipitos beach is a popular beach just around the headland, the clear waters here are ideal for swimming and snorkelling. If you climb the nearby Mount Pantokrator you will be reward with the spectacular views from the top.

The nightlife of Kassiopi is a lot livelier than you would expect from such a small town and many of the bars and restaurants stay open until the last customer has left in the summer months. If you are looking for a busier clubbing and bar scene then you should head along the coast to the larger resorts, where you can dance the night away in one of the many bars and clubs.
