The main beach at Kos is sandy and has plenty of sun loungers and parasols to relax under. Nearby Lambi is a lot bigger and less touristy, though can get quite busy. Visit Tingaki for the ultimate relaxing beach – this small strip of sand is virtually secluded and has shallow waters.
Thermes has a black pebble beach and is situated just outside of Kos Town. It's in an open spot and can get quite hot, however it's great if you want to just find a secluded spot to relax in. Agios Fokas is also south east of the town and has a nudist section.
Many of the hotels in the area offer scuba and snorkelling lessons, and there is a varied marine life in the waters surrounding Kos. You can also get a “party boat” out to sea which has slides and is great for people on group holidays.
Kos Aktis Hotel is situated on the beach front and is a luxury modern hotel with impeccable service. The hotel boasts great views across the sea and there is also free wi fi throughout as well as a bar and restaurant on site.
Kos Town is lively and has many attractions, including Roman ruins, an old fortress, an archaeological museum, and the Hippocrates tree. It's a hub of activity and many of the restaurants are in the street, and there is also a huge market for you to stock up on local goods.
Take a boat trip and visit nearby Kalymnos or Rhodes, or even take a day trip to Turkey – remember your passport though! Hire a bike (or even a moped!) and explore the island and visit the smaller villages around this main hub.
There are plenty of romantic restaurants and tavernas on the outskirts of the town that overlook the sea, however one of the main attractions of Kos Town is Bar Street. Down this narrow street you will find a plethora of bars and nightclubs all offering plenty of cocktails and lively music.
Kos Hotel is in a central location and has its own pool. It overlooks the sea and offers guests extensive studios and great service. The hotel is affordable and relaxing and welcomes couples who want to be in the centre of the action in Kos Town.
The island is volcanic and is domineered by a huge mountain. There are ruins in the mountain, including several temples, which you simply must visit. The town is also home to many ruins itself, with many of the modern buildings built around the old Roman ruins.
Check out individual beaches for specific water sports, however the area is better known for boat trips and jet skiing. Diving and snorkelling is also a popular activity, with many hotels offering the facilities.

Kos Town is the capital of the island of Kos and has many attractions in the town as well as plenty of hotels to accommodate families. The marina is the main focus point of the town and there is also a large beach where families can relax and spend most of the holiday.
Many of the local people and tourists get around by bike, so be sure to hire a few and explore the area around town. There are many boat trips that depart from the main marina and go to some of the smaller islands and even go to Turkey.
