South Goa is blessed with a tropical climate, enjoying hot months throughout the year. The average temperature falls between 25C to 30C, and from mid-March to late June you can expect up to ten hours of sunshine a day. The state’s monsoon season falls from June to the end of September, so many think the best time to take a South Goa holiday is between October and February, when the days are filled with blue skies and humidity is low.

If you wish to explore a busy city during your stay in South Goa, then Margao is a must see. Once a small town, it is now Goa’s second largest city and manages to maintain an old fashioned charm with ancient Portuguese churches and colonial houses lining its streets.

Places to Visit

No visit to South Goa would be complete without the journey to the phenomenal deserted Galgibag Beach. It is one of the final remaining preserves of the area’s endangered Olive Ridley turtles. There are also many spice farms sprinkled across the area, such as Savoi Spice Plantation, which is a huge 40 hectare farm. Betul is a lovely town known for its beach and its cooler climate. It is worth visiting to witness the deep sea fishermen coming in with their daily catch.
