In the Indian state of Haryana is the city of Gurgaon, the state’s second largest city and around 30km from New Delhi. It is, therefore, a hub for economic and business activities. Enjoying great links to Delhi, Gurgaon is an up and coming city with a modern and dynamic vibe.

- Shopping is available in abundance in Gurgaon, with over 40 malls in the city, several of which are all on the same street – Mall Road. There is even a wedding mall which you can visit!
- Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary is a popular tourist destination in India and weekend break spot for visitors and locals alike. Many indigenous birds are rescued and sheltered here, while the reserve seeks to protect endangered species from extinction. It is also home to a number of migratory birds.
- Damdama Lake likewise is also popular with tourists and as it is well served by the Delhi-Alwar railway, has excellent links into the city. Quiet and relaxing, it has a slower pace than Delhi and offers a range of water and lakeside sports. Similarly if you like adventure on your holiday, try Goa for your 2012 holiday.
Why a Holiday to Gurgaon?
- Sheetala Mata Mandir can be found in the nearby village of Gurgaon. Celebrating the deity Mata Sheetla Devi, the monument exists to protect her worshippers from the smallpox diseases. Popular with pilgrims throughout the year, many families come for the mundan ceremony (the first hair cutting) and then offer some of the chopped hair to the goddess. Married couples also visit to ask the goddess to grant them a happy marriage.
- Devi Art Foundation is a collection of contemporary Indian art and is popular with visitors from all over the world and seeks to bring different cultures together through art, as well as offering an extensive education programme.
