Of course, the near perfect climate makes the beach a popular place to go during any Mauritius holiday, the coast here is breath-taking with soft sands and calm waters ensuring your relaxation. However, if you want more than a sun tan from a day at the beach there’s plenty else to do, you could go deep sea fishing, dolphin watching or even take the Blue Safari Submarine for a chance to see some tropical fish up close
When you’re not on the beach there are a number of exciting sights and activities to keep you entertained. Flic en Flac to the east is home to the islands largest open air market, the colourful Flac market is the perfect place to have a go at haggling for some local wares. The east of the island is also home to the action packed Waterpark Leisure Village, a great day out for all the family.
For those visiting the south of the island in Le Morne should check out the islands wildlife at the Ile aux Aigrettes, which is home to some of the world’s rarest birds such as the magnificent Pink Pigeon and the Kestrel.
Bell Mare to the west of the island is another fantastic spot for enjoying the islands wild life, the Yemen reserve and Casela Park both contain a number of fantastic creatures and are worth visiting. If that’s not your cup of tea then perhaps you’d like to visit the Martello Towers, which symbolise the end of slavery which affected the island.
Mauritius holidays are the perfect way to relax and unwind, this breath-taking island has some of the world’s greatest beaches, but don’t think you have to spend all your time sunbathing, there’s plenty more to this unique and diverse island. Also popular with couples looking for a romantic retreat in the tropics, should consider the Caribbean island of St Lucia. Lots of All Inclusive hotel options available on superb beach settings.
Think of Mauritius and beaches are sure to come to mind. For quiet beaches, travel to the areas that haven’t yet been developed into hot tourist spots like the Ile aux Cerfs, an island just off the coast of Mauritius.

Most of the bars and clubs are found in Grand Baie which is the main tourist area of the island. The nights start young in Mauritius but go along a lot longer than in the UK to remember to pace yourself so you can keep going until the early hours!

There isn’t a lot of live entertainment in Mauritius and what there is, is often found in the English themed bars and pubs around the island. That said there are plenty of bars where you’ll be able to enjoy the traditional reggae music of this enchanting island.

This can be as extreme or as relaxing as you like – either on boat with a chilled bottle of beer or really going for it to get the best catch of the day.
