Manggis Holidays

Manggis at a Glance

Manggis is on the Eastern side of Bali island and unlike the west it offers a beautiful unspoiled paradise, home to gorgeous scenery where the coast rises into vast mountain landscapes, breathtaking vistas with shimmering sunsets and beautiful crystal clear waters that combine to create the perfect destination for a relaxing Bali holiday.

Ideal for...

  • Couples in search of a romantic secluded island break.
  • Families who want to spend their Bali holiday surrounded by lush unspoiled tropics.
  • Groups in search of an island adventure with plenty of activities.

Explore Manggis

  • The area of Manggis is a perfect example of Bali before it was taken over by the tourist boom, an area rich in unbelievable scenery, sunset backed mountains and lush greenery.
  • There are beautiful natural beaches and a wonderful variety of accommodation to choose from, some perched above sea level offering inspiring views out over the ocean. Wonderful for those lazy evenings watching the sunset.

Why a Holiday to Manggis?

  • Manggis is very different to popular resorts like Kuta and Seminyak and offers it’s own kind of holiday. There are numerous beaches to explore from the scenic bay of Pedang beach to Goa Lawah and a little further afield there is the popular Amed beach with a perfect stretch of white sands with on beach spa treatments.
  • The south eastern side of the island is a good place for explorers and those interested in the cultural side of Bali. There are some of the most beautiful temples in Indonesia but by far one of the best is the ancient Temple Goa Lawah also knows as the “bat cave temple” for it was built around a cave that is home to thousands of bats.
  • The waters around Manggis are rich with marine life and are home to several dive sites. The area makes for a unique diving point and offers views from the water to such astounding sites as Mount Agung. However, if you’d prefer to snorkel then it’s easy enough to rent equipment from your hotel and join a boat trip for a more relaxed day at sea.
  • There are numerous inland villages and temples around Manggis that are great for day trips. 2 miles in land is the village of Tenganan which is inhabited by the Bali Aga people, Bali’s native inhabitants. The village is best visited mid-year when there are a host of different pre-Hindu festivities, that offer an insight into Bali’s oldest inhabitants. Outside the village are a number of stalls and shops selling hand woven textiles and baskets.
  • This side of the island is perfect for relaxation. As well as taking in the breathtaking scenery offered by the mountains and ocean, why not visit one of the nearby Spa’s like Alila spa which offers traditional Balinese beauty treatments.
