  • The city is home to a number of historic and culturally significant buildings and monuments that often get overlooked such as the Maimoon Palace, a well-known landmark of the city which blends the cultures of Islam, Malaysia and Europe. - There are also a number of religious buildings from all denominations such as the Buddhist temple at Vihara Borobudur, the Mesjid Raya Mosque and the Shri Mariamman Hindu temple.
  • There is a theme park just outside the city with a number of rides and attractions and a water park on the nearby Cermin Beach which has a number of rides and slides as well as facilities for swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Great fun for all the family.
  • Lake Toba is the world’s largest volcanic lake and is over 1,700 kilometres square and it is easily reachable from Medan city. The lake is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sumatra and there are a number of guided tours both on foot and by boat around the lake.
