Located on the western shores of The Sea of Galilee, Tiberias, also known as lower Galilee, is a lively city and attracts thousands of visitors each year in search of sightseeing, spiritual enlightenment and a holiday with a difference that you'll remember forever.

Ideal Destination for...

  • You’re a family or couple looking for a holiday with a mix of relaxation, nature, and history.
  • You’re the active type who enjoys walking, contemporary attractions and water-sports.
  • You’re interested in the culture and historic relevance of many unique attractions in the area.

Holiday in Tiberias

An intriguing tourist destination, Tiberias represents all that is good about holidays to Israel. Apart from being in close proximity to the nearby Holy Land attractions of Galilee, Tiberias itself has lots to offer. There are various hotels located on the beach catering for all tastes and budgets, expansive lawns and a selection of bars, restaurants and water sports. There’s also a large waterpark, great fun for the whole family, especially those with younger children to keep entertained.

Top Attractions in Tiberias

  • The marina in Tiberias is a popular hot-spot, offering boat rides on Lake Kineret as well as providing visitors with ample photo opportunities with some truly breathtakingly beautiful sunsets. There’s also a promenade with cafes and restaurants specialising in fish dishes, made with the lakes catch of the day.
  • The downtown area also provides plenty of opportunity for leisurely days where you can sit in a street side café and watch the world go by. Nearby the boardwalk you’ll find brightly coloured horse drawn carriages, touristy perhaps, but great fun and an excellent way to see the city sights.
  • Just to the south of Tiberias’ Old City is Hamat Tiberias National Park. Visitors come here to enjoy the waters of the seventeen hot springs whose warm waters are infused with minerals and thought to possess healing qualities. This is a day trip not to be missed.
  • Nearby Mount Berenice is also worth visiting. Not only does it offer spectacular views but also has the impressive ruins of Anchor Church, named after the heavy anchor found in the middle of its stone altar.
  • When you’re in need of a break from sightseeing there are many beaches to enjoy in the area offering a host of water-sports, bars and cafes. It’s definitely worth taking a day out from sightseeing to relax and work on that tan before putting on your walking shoes again.
