Sant Agata derives its name from the town’s Church of St. Agata, in the main square. There are a number of fine restaurants serving traditional Italian food in the town and this in just one of the highlights when visiting.

• The area is renowned for its lemon groves cultivated on the surrounding hills. The local lemon, ‘femminello ovale’, has aromatic peel and is often found in local food. Be sure to try some of this whilst on holiday. The fresh flavours are hard to beat.
• The town’s tiny cove Marina di Crapolla is one of the most interesting spots on this costal line. In the deep gorge are the remains of an old fishermen’s village. It is unique in that it has shingles rather than white sand and crystal waters, typical of many of the beaches in the area. It is worth walking down to see the ruins.
• This quiet resort is a great starting point for trekking along the coast or in the surrounding hills.

• Day trips to near by sights are highly recommended. Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius and Naples are all unforgettable, with ruins from ancient Rome. Guided tours can be arranged or just hire a car.
