The Grand Hotel Baglioni is in the historical centre of Florence just 300 metres from Santa Maria Novella railway station and a few minutes' walk from the Fortezza Da Basso (Exhibition Hall), the Congress Centre and the most important museums and monuments such as the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. This area also has many typical restaurants, shops and markets.
The hotel was originally the residence of the Carrega Bertolini noble family before the imposing building was turned into a hotel in 1903 making it the oldest hotel in Florence. Today, the hotel has 193 guestrooms, all of which have recently been renovated and refurbished. They feature wood beam ceilings, original leaded panes and are decorated in traditional Tuscan style with parquet floors, mahogany furniture and Florentine ceramics.
The Grand Baglioni is also lucky to have one of the most panoramic rooftops in Florence which is home to Terrazza Brunelleschi, the hotels well known restaurant. Serving a combination of traditional Tuscan fare with more exotic dishes and accompanied by views over the spires and rooftops of Florence, it is easy to see why the restaurant is so popular. The hotel concierge service can help with local tours, museum reservations, theatre tickets, local restaurant bookings and even baby-sitting.
Florence is set in the Italian region of Tuscany, on the banks of the River Arno. The city is the perfect place for art lovers and the galleries house some of the finest collections of paintings by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli. The city is a network of medieval streets and best explored on foot, with cathedrals, piazzas and palazzos adding to its beauty.
