Neapolitan Riviera Holidays

Holidays in Italy's Neapolitan Riviera

On the south west coast of Italy set around the Bay of Naples and beyond, is the Neapolitan Riviera. Towering mountains and volcanoes, dramatic cliffs, pastel painted villages and beautiful countryside is what will greet you when you go on holiday to the Neapolitan Riviera.

The Neapolitan Riviera coastline is quite spectacular with hidden coves, towns perched above the sea, and white washed villages spread out from their fishing harbours.

Don a good pair of walking shoes and explore the world of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius or jump on a boat and discover the many beaches dotted up and down the coastline of the Neapolitan Riviera.

Towns of the Neapolitan Riviera

Head to the volcanic island of Ischia. Just 30 minutes by water taxi from Naples, Ischia is the prime location for the most wonderful thermal springs and hot water beaches, especially in Baia di San Montano.

There are a number of beaches around the fascinating town of Amalfi including Duoglio Beach and St Croce Beach, as well as La Marienella Beach which is easily accessed by boat from Amalfi’s harbour.

Cliff top [Sorrento](http://www.lowcostholidays.com/italy/neapolitan-riviera/sorrento-holidays.htm offers lifts down to the bathing platforms set below the town, with sunbeds and cafes, and steps down to the sea. There are sandy beaches in Positano and Nerano also on the Neapolitan Riviera.

Exploring the Neapolitan Riviera

When on holiday in the Neapolitan Riviera it isn’t a case of “what” to explore but rather, where to begin?

Having flown into Naples the capital of the Campania region in southern Italy enter the heart of this ancient city and explore the area that has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are nearly 450 churches in Naples as well as the lovely Royal Palace and huge choice of museums and galleries.

Amalfi is dramatically built into the cliff face with wonderful steep winding streets and an amazing sprawling Cathedral (Piazza Duomo). Steeped in history and a great location for superb shopping opportunities is the popular resort of Sorrento. If you fancy visiting Pollio Felice’s Villa, the marine Park, Punta Campanella or a stroll round the medieval town centre of Sorrento, one visit will just not be enough.
