- The greenest of all the islands is Salina. Its main port, Santa Marina Salina, has a long traffic free promenade, which is boasts a range of chic boutiques and good cafes. It is famous for its sweet wine, so make sure you take a trip to one of the local vineyards to sample its produce. If you prefer something more energetic, there are excellent walking trails here.
- Stromboli constantly attracts visitors because of a famous feature, its active volcano. It is one of the most active volcanoes in Europe. The adventurous should take a hike to the summit, on one of the guided walks, which takes around two hours. If you prefer to relax with the kids, Stromboli has some great black sand beaches.
- Panarea is the smallest of the islands, but also the most fashionable. In the high summer, it attracts the jet set but there is a lot here to keep others occupied. Beautiful coastal walks and crystal clear waters are to be explored, and for those that like to enjoy traditional cuisine, there are some good restaurants to be found.
