The adventurous should take a hike to the summit, on one of the guided walks, which takes around two hours. If you prefer to relax with the kids, Stromboli has some great black sand beaches.
• Panarea is the smallest of the islands, but also the most fashionable. In the high summer, it attracts the jet set but there is a lot here to keep others occupied. Beautiful coastal walks and crystal clear waters are to be explored, and for those that like to enjoy traditional cuisine, there are some good restaurants to be found.
