  • The Castello di Lombardia is the biggest castle in Sicily. It originally had 20 towers, but now only has 6, with one of these boasting great views of the surrounding landscape. The Castello is now open to the public, and is a fascinating place to visit to learn about the city’s military history.
  • Enna is shrouded in myth, and a short walk from the famous Castello lays the Rocca di Cerere, the ruins of the temples of Demeter. Bringing the family here for a picnic is a great way to spend the afternoon.
  • Head to Lake Pergusa, this wildlife reserve is home to thousands of rare birds and makes for a peaceful and relaxing day out.
