Taormina is perched above the village of Mazzaro and a cable car or funivia can be taken from the north end of Taormina to the Mediterranean beach in 15 minutes; two pleasant coves of fine shingle gently shelving into the sea. There are a few bars and restaurants on the edge of the beach in Mazzaro (Lido Mazzaro).
