Here, beginners can learn to dive, whilst seasoned pros can explore the vibrant, multicoloured coral reed just off the coast.

If all that sounds a little like too much hard work and you just want to relax and be pampered, the Saravo provides accordingly with the sumptuous Tulia Spa centre. ‘Tulia’ is the Shwahili work for relax, and the spa offer a lavish range of treatments, drawing influences from Ayurvedic, Western and Oriental schools. Expect to find an open-air Jacuzzi, a reflexology pool, steam rooms, saunas, many differing massages and innumerable treatments and therapies, guaranteed to leave you feeling refreshed, revitalised and totally relaxed. Bliss. There is also a beauty salon offering a range of hair and beauty treatments.

Children are really well provided for the at the Sarova Whitesands with their own swimming pool complete with a waterslide, a fun mini-playground area, a special kid’s buffet service in the Minazi Cafe and the Ozon Club that provides a full programme of entertainment, activities and games for different age groups. On request, there is a babysitting service, which allows parents to enjoy some time to themselves knowing their children are in a safe and supervised environment.

Additionally, the hotel has a wide range of shopping opportunities onsite, ranging from the vibrant, twice-weekly African Market to the upmarket La Perla Boutique via a modern shopping mall. Swimming pools

The Sarova Whitesands has five large freeform swimming pools:

The Lido Pool features a built-in bar, so you don’t even have to leave the pool to enjoy an expertly-made cocktail. This pool provides the venue for morning aerobics.

The Palms Pool is the Sarova’s most picturesque pool. Surrounded by swaying palms, colourful bougainvilleas and frangipani trees, the pool features a wonderful waterfall and an island in the middle, reached by a bridge.

The Diving Pool serves as the venue for the Buccaneer Diving School scuba diving tutorials.

Situated at the far end of the property adjoining the Tulia Spa, the Tranquillity Pool is the place to go for true relaxation.

Finally, there is a the specially designed Children’s pool, which features a fun waterslide and provides a safe place for kids to play.

Eating and drinking

The main dining establishment at the Savora Whitesands Beach Resort is the refined Pavilions Restaurant, which features a varied buffet service, drawing influences from across the European continent and Asia, as well as indigenous African cuisines. The restaurant can accommodate up to 680 diners and features regular live music, traditional dancers and even acrobats.

The Minazi Cafe is a bistro-style restaurant with a traditional wood-fired pizza oven. The restaurant features a special buffet service for children and stays open 24 hours a day. This restaurant is not included in the half or full board packages.

The Chaine de Rotisseur certified Lido Seafood Grill is a fine dining alfresco restaurant that enjoys an idyllic beachfront setting, surrounded by swaying palms, and overlooking the sparkling Indian Ocean. The restaurant specialises in freshly caught local seafood including lobster, prawns and crabs.

Complementing the restaurants, there is the open-air Cocos Beach Bar, which is the perfect place to unwind with an exotic cocktail, as the sun goes down. There is a DJ every night, Salsa evening on Fridays and regular live dancing and acrobat performances. Next to the Tranquillity Pool is the Tulia Health Bar, which serves light bites, salads, smoothies and fresh squeezed juices.

MEALS: All inclusive Guests are entitled to exceptional Buffet Style Continental Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Cuisines Include; Continental, Asian and Indigenous African with 14 themed dinners over a fortnight.

The hotel, which is designed in Lamu architectural style, has a total of 338 guestrooms and suites on offer, including 66 Palm Rooms (centred around the Palms Pool), six luxurious Executive Suites and two magnificent Presidential Suites.
