Overview

The three-star Dom Pedro Garajau Hotel is on the south coast of Madeira Island between Funchal and Canico. It is set high above the glittering Atlantic Ocean, with beautiful views towards the rocky peninsula of Sao Laurenco, and the volcanic mountains of the Desert Islands. The bustling city of Funchal is within easy reach of the hotel by bus or taxi which can be found right outside the Dom Pedro Garajau entrance. The hotel is also not far from the Statue of Christ, which is one of only six in the world and points to Lisbon, `The Motherland`.

The Hotel Dom Pedro Garajau is made up of six adjacent buildings, which stretch over 300 metres along the street, with local shops and bars opposite. There is a good selection of activities and entertainment for Madeira holidaymakers and the reception are happy to arrange golf at Palheiro, and diving sessions in Machico. The hotel combines 282 spacious guestrooms and studios (studios have a kitchenette) which are spread across three floors.

Plenty of leisure, relaxation and entertainment facilities are available onsite including an indoor pool, an outdoor pool and a children’s pool. The free-form outdoor and children’s pools are generously sized and divided by a bridge leading to the thatched bar where drinks and snacks are served to guests relaxing on sunloungers in the tropical gardens. The indoor pool has a sliding roof so guests can benefit from the glorious Maderian sunshine. The Dom Pedro Garajau reception is home to a souvenir shop, a games room, a TV room and internet facilities whilst outside, in the hotel grounds, there is a sports court with equipment for volleyball, badminton, bowls and archery. Close the gardens, guests will also find a miniclub for children (children must be accompanied).

There is a mini supermarket just across the street from the hotel for all your holiday essentials, and the quaint village of Garajau is nearby which has a small selection of shops, bars and restaurants making it the ideal choice for a relaxing lowcost holiday in Madeira within easy reach of the vibrant capital, Funchal. A wealth of activities are available locally including golf, fishing, diving, water sports, trekking, canyoning, climbing and cycling.

Swimming pools

The hotel has two swimming pools. The indoor pool has a sliding roof to take advantage of the best of the summer weather. The outdoor pool has a children's section with plenty of seating around it to keep an eye on the young ones.

Eating and drinking

The 'Tropical' restaurant is located on the lower floor leading out to an attractive veranda with outside seating and views of the gardens.The indoor pool bar ' Caracalla' is a great place for pre dinner drinks or to listen to the daily live music. The other pool bar serves drinks for the outside pool during the summer months.
