Chihuahua Holidays

Chihuahua Uncovered

Why are you travelling to Chihuahua? For a warm family get-together, a wild stag or hen do, or a more tranquil romantic break? Whatever the reason, check out these tips on how to make the most of holidays to Chihuahua.

When is the best time to go?

Chihuahua is at its warmest between May and September. However, because of its inland location, the city remains hot and dry all year round, even during Mexico's rainy season.

Spectacular nights out

Most Chihuahua holidays include a wonderfully varied nightlife, meshing both Mexican and international music. Live music is played at many of the quaint coffee shops and bars.

There are also plentiful restaurants in Periferico de la Juventud, one of Chihuahua's newest commercial areas.

How's the shopping?

There is a great selection of shops and shopping centres for shopaholics on Chihuahua holidays.

Many unique souvenirs, like furniture, violins and pots, can be bought at the handicrafts markets, plus shops like Handcrafts House and Tarahumara's House. Many of these goods have been made by the Tarahumara Indians living in the Copper Canyon area. Menonite cheese can also be easily bought during holidays to Chihuahua.

There are also plentiful shopping centres, like Fashion Mall, Chihuahua's largest shopping centre, and Plaza Galerias, which house all kinds of retailers and cinemas.

Where can I get a burger?

Shopping centres like Fashion Mall and Plaza Galerias include many varied restaurants, but there are plentiful other eateries, selling Italian, Argentinian, and even American dishes, to enjoy during holidays to Chihuahua.

However, it would be a terrible missed opportunity not to try out the local produce during any Chihuahua holidays. The unique Chihuahuan cuisine originates from the historical tendency of villagers to preserve crops through dehydrating them, and incorporate ingredients like meat, potatoes, beans, wheat, corn and chickpeas.

Get in with the locals...

If you are embarking on one of lowcostholidays.com's Chihuahua holidays for the very first time, you can be excused for becoming confused by the Chihuahuan social rules and traditions. Here are some tips to prevent that from happening.

What's the 999 number?

The Mexican emergency number is 060.

Shall I pack the sun cream/anorak?

Chihuahua is much closer to the Equator than Britain, so yes, make sure that you don plenty of sun tan before relaxing on the beach or exploring the archeological sites.

How do I get around?

There are many taxis and a network of buses throughout Chihuahua, especially useful for an increasingly busy city.

Shall I learn the local lingo?

Spanish is the widely-spoken language, so it wouldn't hurt to learn some before embarking on any Chihuahua holidays.

Do I need to tip?

Tipping is widely expected, as many service employees have little or no base salary. Tips should be in the region of 10-20%, varying according to the employee's profession and the quality of their service during holidays to Chihuahua.
