The coastal city of Cancun is a wonderful place to spend a holiday in the sun and by the beach, with a huge variety of activities and sights to see that has made it a world-renowned balnaerio and tourist resort.
Some of the brilliant attractions in the area include the monumental underwater art museum in the National Marine Park of Cancun; with the Museo Subacuatico de Arte (MUSA), the Cancun underwater museum, which will consist of more than 400 life-sized sculptures creating artificial reefs for marine life to colonise and inhabit. Also nearby is another popular tourist destination the Riviera Maya, where there are modern attractions with theme parks such as Xcaret Eco Park and Xplor; as well as more cultural attractions like the many archaeological sites such as Coba and Tulum and pretty villages like Playa del Carmen.
Much of the best shopping in Cancun can be found in the several modern malls in the city, including the ultra trendy La Isla Shopping Village with more than 150 shops, as well as restaurants and cinemas showing films in Spanish and English. Alternatively to the shopping the malls there are places like the Plaza Caracol with over 200 shops and boutique stores, along with a great selection of restaurants and cafes, or for a more traditional shopping experience you can try the Mercado (Market) 28, a huge flea market for a great place to pick up souvenirs, local goods and plenty of bargains.
