Albufeira attractions

Although there are 20 beaches to choose from, your first stop should be the main Albufeira beach below the central square, with a long sandy stretch and good facilities for family holidays.
Praia da Oura, sheltered by attractive cliffs, is the other most central beach. Head here for 5 km of clean golden sands alongside Sao Joao, as well as excellent conditions for watersports, including sailing, windsurfing and jet-skiing.
For small and secluded spots head to Castelo, Maria Luisa, Olhos d’Agua, Santa Eulalia, Guia or Sao Rafael where you can enjoy cliff top paths, hidden coves and delicious fresh fish.

If you have had enough of soaking up the sun on the beaches, enjoy the gorgeous green countryside, with peaceful nature trails through fragrant fig, orange, almond and pine trees.
The Zoo Marine centre at Guia should not be missed on a family holiday to Albufeira, and don’t forget about the ever popular Aqualand water park.
If you’re into golf try the fantastic local golf villages of Balacia and Clube Albufeira Resort.

For a lively night out try the casino at nearby Vilamoura or head to the main square and ‘The Strip’ down to Praia da Oura for live music, bars, nightclubs and even British-owned pubs.
Planning a cheap Albufeira holiday? You’ll find plenty of choice with international cuisine and local delicacies, including some fantastic reasonably-priced seafood.
If you fancy a relaxing evening then sample the local wine at one of the many pavement cafes, as the world passes by on a warm Albufeira evening.

Go on a shopping spree in the indoor complexes including central Modelo Centre and nearby lively Algarve Shopping Complex, or grab a bargain at the local craft markets and independent shops.
Check out the local landmarks such as the Clock Tower, the 18th century Parish Church and the Xorino Cave, a refuge for the Moors during ancient times.
Take the kids to the English-language cinema or go bowling.
