Alicante Holidays

Alicante Attractions

Alicante is one of the most well-known beach holiday destinations in Spain but there’s plenty more to do there than just lay on the beach and soak up the sunshine all day. If you want to explore this picturesque region a little more or want to burn off a few holiday calories, we’ve come up with some great ideas to help you make the most of your holiday in Alicante.

Alicante beaches:

  • Alicante has over 300 days of sunshine each year so make the most of it by heading to the central Blue Flag beach of Playa del Postiguet. It’s very busy but packed with things to do and places to eat and drink
  • Playa del Coco is a smaller beach near Alicante where you can relax on the harbour and enjoy the weather and views in a quieter spot on your Costa Blanca holiday

Alicante holidays

  • Playa de la Almadraba is a hidden gem, little-used by tourists, which is great for swimming and watersports
  • There are two picturesque nudist coves called Cala Palmera and Cala Cantelalares if you want to get an all over tan

Alicante activities:

  • Get your competitive side out at Karting Alicante or Go-Karting La Font Santa and race your family and friends around the karting tracks in the sunshine
  • Santa Barbara Castle overlooks Alicante City and is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Europe. It’s completely free to visit and you can roam around the paths, castle and cafes for as long as you like
  • A special tour bus called Turibus runs throughout the day offering a hop-on hop-off service to all the major tourist attractions in Alicante including the Archaeological Museum, Santa Barbara Castle, Central Market, the Theatre and the Rambla. This is great if you want to really explore on your holiday in Alicante
  • A fantastic theme park, Terra Mitica, is just 20 minutes’ drive away. It’s split into four areas; Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Spain and there are loads of rides, pools and play areas to keep kids and adults of all ages entertained
  • Aqualandia Waterpark is another family favourite in Alicante, offering huge water slides, wave pools and Europe's highest water chute ride, the Big Bang

Alicante nightlife:

  • One of the best places for Alicante nightlife is the old town area known as El Barrio. It’s bursting with bars, taverns and restaurants all oozing Spanish charm and character and most offering live entertainment
  • The more modern area of Alicante has nice restaurants and interesting bars and pubs but the beach is where it’s all happening in the summer; expect live music, dancing and entertainment well into the night. Perfect if you’re looking to get out on your holiday in Alicante
  • The “Trensnochador" is a night train which runs all night from 9pm-7am through Alicante’s neighbouring towns so locals and tourists can safely, cheaply and easily sample the nightlife all over the area. Try Benidorm and Altea for some nights out to remember!

Other attractions near Alicante:

  • Guadalest valley is a stunning area of natural beauty near Alicante and well worth a visit for a day trip. There are little shops, a museum and art gallery, picturesque walks and pleasant little cafes and restaurants – a nice break from the hustle and bustle of Alicante
