Calella is a modest yet friendly and lively town that caters well for tourists, with its main attraction being its fantastic beaches, which the council has gone to great lengths to ensure that they all feature excellent facilities to satisfy the most demanding of tourists.
There are a number of good beaches to enjoy including the main and largest beach of Platja Gran Calella, which along with providing a great place to soak up the sun with the countless loungers and parasols provided. There are also a number of activities to enjoy including two large water slides and regular boat excursions that serve as water taxis so you can visit some of the other popular tourist destination such as Blanes and Lloret de Mar.
There is also a brilliant choice of restaurants and bars to choose from, with over 50 bars as well as music bars and international restaurants that cater for wide range of tastes with Indian, Chinese and Italian restaurants to choose from. The nightlife in Calella is also a very lively and eventful one, with most of the larger nightclubs found in the modern southwest end of the town, including international DJs, laser shows and foam parties providing some great nights that continue till the early hours in the morning.
For those interested in exploring the town there are several historical sights to be found in the old town, such as the beautiful church of Santa Maria, the 14th century Casa dels Salvadors, former home of the illustrious local Salvador Saga family and the old lighthouse built in 1859 on the site of an ancient defence makes for impressive sight. You may also like to visit the town’s museum with its 12 exhibition halls or further afield you can find some popular family attractions such as Europe’s largest water park up near Lloret De Mar.
