Chiclana’s beach resort is Sancti Petri, a summer time extension of the town itself on Costa de la Luz. The small island of Sancti Petri with a lighthouse and 18th century castle is a lovely day trip by ferry during the summer.
Just north of La Barrosa Beach is the fishing village of Sancti Petri, but this has been abandoned and Chiclana Sancti Petri developed past the old village and around a modern harbour, where there are numerous water sports and sailing available, as well as a few bars and restaurants. La Barrosa Beach is a huge expanse of eight kilometres of fine white sand and clear blue water, and stretches from the El Puerco watchtower to Cano de Sancti Petri. The promenade area of the beach has a number of bars and restaurants, and has been awarded the Blue Flag. There is also an untouched stretch which is protected by dunes and beach shrubbery.
