Rota Holidays

Rota Attractions

Rota is a fantastic summer holiday destination on the Costa de la Luz in Spain but if you want to know what else to find there apart from glorious sunshine, we’ve put together a little guide to the resort.

Rota beaches:

  • Rota is lucky to be bordered by 16km of beach, including the beaches of La Costilla, La Rompidillo, Virgen del Mar, El Chorrillo, Punta Candor and La Ballena.
  • There are a variety of watersports to try on all the beaches around Rota so get ready to scuba dive, Jet Ski and wind surf!
  • Chorrillo and Rompidillo are both especially good for families as the sea is calmer and it doesn’t get as windy as some of the other beaches.

Rota activities:

  • Costa Ballena Ocean Golf Club is open to non-members so why not pop by and have a game? With a 9 hole course and a 27 hole championship course, there’s something for beginners and regular golfers alike.
  • Visit the 16th century church, Our Lady of the ‘O’ and see the work of renowned Spanish artist Don Diego Roldan inside.
  • Take a walk to the Castillo de la Luna to see the beautiful architecture of this 13th century Moorish fort and to visit Rota’s tourist office.

Rota nightlife:

  • The centre for nightlife in Rota is in the area called La Costilla. Here you’ll find something for everyone - from family friendly pubs to lively bars and restaurants.
  • Head to Chorillo Beach where the clubs open until late into the night.

Other attractions near Rota:

  • Whilst in the area, take a day trip to stunning Cadiz and explore this exciting port, taking in the plazas, naval buildings and interesting historical remains.
