Close to the bay of Gibraltar, the small town of San Roque really hits the target if you’re looking for a quaint slice of Spain. With great weather throughout the summer months, average highs of 30°C, and some fabulous sights to be found, you’ll probably fall in love with it.

Beaches in San Roque

  • San Roque town doesn’t touch the coast, but it’s a great base to explore the beautiful coastline. If you want to try out some water sports, head for Tarifa, southeast of San Roque. Here they have a dedicated kitesurfing school, as well as the usual sports
  • For a bit of peace and sunbathing the bay of Gibraltar offers plenty of pristine sites. Campamento Beach is quiet, but offers all the facilities you could need to chill out on a San Roque holiday

San Roque Activities

  • There are some great golf courses in the area, and some pretty swanky golf clubs. To the northeast of San Roque there’s a whole cluster of courses to choose from, some with their own private stretches of beach too; perfect for a holiday to San Roque
  • The town is situated in a beautiful part of the countryside, so if you’re able to drive there are some wonderful views to take in on your Costa De La Luz holiday
  • The region has a long tradition of wild horses, and encourages its native wildlife, so you’ll be able to grab some gorgeous San Roque holiday snaps too

Food and Nightlife in San Roque

  • Food-wise you’re better heading for La Linea de la Conception for a range of local dishes
  • In San Roque there’s a great Hong Kongese as well as a few top-notch hotel restaurants
  • Things are pretty easy going in the town itself. There’s the usual Spanish café and bar culture, which is always a treat on a holiday to San Roque
  • Around here a club is synonymous with golf club, so if you’re planning to dance the night away it’ll be in a quaint bar or café
