Ideal for families, PortAventura Hotel El Paso is a traditional Mexican hacienda where the authentic looking décor and charming gardens will take you back to the days of colonial Mexico. Lie back and relax next to the El Paso Hotel’s enormous pool which features a sunken pirate ship where children can splash around for hours. Relax in sumptuous lounges as you take-in all of the excitement of the Hotel El Paso which lies just five minutes walk from the gates of PortAventura Park and PortAventura Aquatic Park and ten minutes from the Beach Club by shuttle (available during dates of operation). Salou is also only ten minutes away by car and it is an hour drive to Barcelona.
The PortAventura Park combines different areas themed to symbolise different regions and cultures of the world. There are many rides to experience, from gentle jungle swings for the kids to full-on 135km/h adrenaline coasters. Shows are the second biggest attraction to PortAventura, and there are a wide variety throughout the day from precise acrobatics to card tricks and magicians, everyone will enjoy. When you get peckish you are spoilt for choice of where to refuel, each land has a wide variety of restaurants and food outlets, ranging from a la carte menus to grab-and-go fast food for those who just want to keep going! Children are also well catered for with specially adapted menus.
The PortAventura Aquatic Park, formerly known as Caribe Aquatic Park, is less than a stones throw from the main Park and has its own entrance. The vibe is very much a chilled out Caribbean feel, reggae music fills the air whilst kids and adults fill the water. Plenty of shade is provided by towering palm trees and beach huts which also serve up ice cold beverages as well as delicious food. An array of single flumes, double dingy flumes, water rapids and wave pools are scattered across park as well as a lazy river which meanders comfortably in an effortless circuit around the park. Special areas for younger children to play in are designed with fun but also safety in mind.
Unique to PortAventura, the Beach Club offers a private retreat for onsite hotel guests who wish to relax and laze in the pristine Spanish sun. Situated on the height of a ridge approximately 100 metres back from the beach, the club offers stunning coastal views from the multiple infinity pools as well as various massage treatment therapies (payable locally). There are a total of seven pools available including a children’s pool, a white sand pool and a spa pool. The beach itself is called Playa Larga and is approximately 600 metres long and 30 metres wide. Parasols, hammocks and sun loungers are available to hire on the beach, or if you want to venture into the water, jet skis and sailing boats are also available! Choose cuisine from a snack bar, self-service buffet or restaurant to accompany your mood, and for that little extra luxury, book a table at the a la carte restaurant.
The Hotel El Paso has a total of 501 rooms, all of which are air conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter. Standard rooms have a telephone, satellite television and an en-suite bathroom, and can sleep up to four people. For 2010, the El Paso is becoming an all inclusive hotel with a package that not only covers food and drink in the hotel complex but also a selected locations in the PortAventura Park and Aquatic Park! There are numerous hotel dining options including a poolside restaurant and bar and an a la carte, movie-inspired diner. In addition to the PortAventura Park, the PortAventura Aquatic Park and the Beach Club there is also a volleyball court, a children’s garden maze, a games area and guests enjoy free access to ‘Campo Aventura’, a unique hotel-run mini-club offering a full range of services to entertain children aged between 4 and 12. Daytime and evening entertainment is also available in the hotel and in the park, and if you can find the time there is also golf available in the area.
