The beaches in Almunecar are situated at the two estuaries. Playa Puerta del Mar on Rio Verde, and Playa San Cristobal on Rio Seco to the west of Almunecar. Puerta del Mar is the main beach set below the old town walls and it is here that the local aquapark is located. Many hotels and apartments are located around Playa San Cristobal, a fine shingle and sandy beach with many facilities nearby.
