If you want to try something other than swimming or soaking up the sunshine on the beach then you can try your hand at fishing, either on land or you can go out to sea on one of the local fishing tours. A great way to explore the region is on one of the quad tours; excellent if you like things a bit faster than walking pace and fancy a little excitement.

Tarajalejo and the surrounding areas have no shortage of great restaurants most of which are used to catering for family groups and some serve a range of international style cuisine. However if you fancy sampling some of the local cuisine then head to any one of the numerous tapas bars that are scattered throughout the region; for the best experience try the specials in a number of places.

Many of the hotels in the area have excellent facilities some even have entertainment facilities for children. There are also a number of apartments that are available for hire for those who prefer to go self-catered. The countryside around the village has some wonderful views and dramatic vistas especially in the along the coastline there the scenery varies from volcanic rock formations, to sand dunes. If you are a shopaholic or just enjoy a bit or window shopping then there are a few shops in Tarajalejo to search for a bargain.

Tarajalejo has a number of pretty little restaurants that make the perfect setting for a romantic evening meal; some of the better restaurants have terraces or verandas that look out over the sea. There are also a number of bars that are open late where you can sip a glass of wine in the warm night air; some even have performances and live music.

There are a number of hotels that are within easy reach of the beach that provide excellent views of the beautiful coastline, perfect for couples looking for a romantic getaway by the seaside. However the village has still retained its traditional charm and has yet to be overdeveloped by tourism. The Bahia Hotel offers some great views in its relaxing and comfortable rooms.

The beach of Tarajalejo is made of black sand and pebbles which are great for sunbathing , the Gran Tarajal beach nearby is similar and both the beaches have been awarded the European Blue Flag for cleanliness. Both beaches are popular with divers and snorkelers. There is a pretty beach promenade with a small number of beach bars that serve food and drinks throughout the day.

The beach of Tarajalejo and the nearby beaches of Gran Tarajal and Las Playitas have a number of facilities for water sports. There is a dive centre in the region where you can learn to scuba dive or hire equipment. There are also facilities for surfing and windsurfing if you fancy something a little more active, but you can always just go for a swim in the sea and snorkelling is very popular.
