Gran Canaria’s Gift

Playa del Ingles holidays bring you to the largest resort in Gran Canaria, with its fabulous beach and 24-hour entertainment making for a perfect summer sunshine break. Sharing its eight kilometre beach with the smaller resorts of Maspalomas and San Agustin, the resort offers year-round sunshine and an alluring sophistication that often entitles sipping a cocktail by the pool.

You can become the ultimate beach bum during your holidays in Playa del Ingles, and the resort’s world famous Blue Flag beach, made up of sand from the Sahara desert, will set you on your way. If you want to lie back and soak up the sun you'll find plenty of soft sand and sun beds available, or if you'd prefer to stay active then you can make the most of the great selection of water sports on offer – creating the perfect balance for your trip to the Gran Canaria.

Hitting the Sand and Sea

The beach and the ocean encompass the attraction and thrill of Playa del Ingles holidays. You’ll find an immensely vibrant atmosphere on the seafront, and an equally active ethos out on the water. Besides chilling on the sand and topping up your tan, the beaches around the resort are awash with water sports opportunities. Climb on board for some windsurfing, feel the need for speed on a jet ski or splash along out of control on a good old banana boat ride.

You can also enjoy the beautiful coastal scenery without taking to the water. The Paseo Costa Canaria is a superb scenic walking area which transports you along the coastal promenade, up and down inclines, but always exposing you to stunning views of the coast. You’ll find a number of hotels and apartments with equally appealing sea views, but nothing beats traversing a magical landscape on foot.

Keeping Things Adventurous

While it is easy to embark on holidays to Playa del Ingles in search of a sedate beach break, you’ll find that embracing the active and thrilling aspects of the area will help you create memories that span further than a beach towel on the sand. There are a number of things to do for families holidaying in the resort, ensuring that both parents and their kids will be occupied during their break. Head over to Aqualand, a fun and expansive water park which provides a great day out for the family, or alternatively pay a visit to Minigolf Atlantico to go head-to-head with each member of your family on the testing course!

Just outside of the resort towards Maspalomas you’ll encounter some stunning sand dunes, known locally as La Dunas de Maspalomas. The landscape is stunning and transports you to a desert fantasy, though one with a sparkling ocean in the distance. A trip here will also allow you to explore the local resort, with its expansive beach, charming lighthouse and intriguing bird sanctuary.

You’ll find even more action and adventure when the sun goes down – specifically embedded in the resort’s bustling nightlife scene. The resort is famous for its clubbing and is home to countless venues. The resort has also become famous for its gay-friendly club scene, and is one of the best destinations for gay tourists in the whole of Spain.

Playa Del Ingles Beaches

Top Beaches

With Playa del Ingles being the most popular beach with all the sports and activities, Maspalomas across the sand dunes is another popular resort for couples and families alike. San Agustin on the other hand, is an option for those looking for something quieter to just sit back and relax.

Enjoyable for everyone, Aqualand water park is a fun day out for all ages. As well as taking a boat cruise on a glass-bottomed boat, you can take a camel ride or a walk across the beautiful sandy beaches that split Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas.

Water sports

As with any of the three main resorts, water sports are aplenty. You can take a jetski, learn to dive, scuba dive and even go kayaking. If you've never done any of these things before, it really is a chance to do something you'll not experience otherwise.

With a great choice of hotels and apartments lining the beaches, you'll be spoilt for choice. An affordable choice is Corona Roja Apartments that is central to the best of local bars and restaurants. For the young partygoers, Green Park Apartments is a good choice for being close to the beach as well as the best of the nightlife.

Playa Del Ingles Couples Holidays

As a popular party location, there are lots of options to choose from when it comes to nightlife. You can choose to have a quiet dinner and head to one of the many bars along the promenade for quiet drinks and live entertainment. Alternatively, there are lots of clubs where you can dance the night away.

Quiet Beaches

If the bustle of Playa del Ingles is too much, you can take a walk down the coast to the resort of San Agustin for a quieter place to relax and enjoy the sun and sea. You can join others looking for peace of mind on the sun loungers or you also have the option to take part in the water sports like the other resorts.

Eating out can be an enjoyable and relaxing experience with the large variety of both International and local cuisine on offer. From Italian and traditional Spanish to Chinese and traditional English, you'll be spoilt for choice. Be sure to have dinner at one of the many seafront restaurants over candlelight, before taking a stroll on the beach.

Naturally as the biggest resort in Gran Canaria, Playa del Ingles has a lot to offer in terms of accommodation. A luxury option is the Bohemia Suites and Spa with stunning views of the sand dunes and ocean. It also has the Sandia shopping centre next door with a large supermarket and several restaurants, as well as the Yumbo centre. You can also choose from several self-catering resorts for a holiday on your terms.

Playa Del Ingles Exploring Holidays

As a popular party spot you will find a great range of clubs to enjoy. Head to the Kasbah centre to get the night started in any one of the many bars. After a bit of bar hopping, you can head to the resort's superclubs such as the globally known Cream and Pascha for a night of serious dancing.

To fulfill your shopaholic urges, you can shop in the duty-free shops throughout the town and the Yumbo centre or pick up locally made crafts at San Fernando Market. For designer gear, take a trip to nearby Maspalomas and if you need to stock up on essentials then you'll find several supermarkets in the shopping centres with everything you'll need.

You'll find all the usual tourist spots serving a range of International options, but for something more refined you can try Espetanda or Restaurante Gaucho that serve a good variety of food that isn't too heavy on the stomach.

You'll find plenty of bars and pubs which are ideal for a lively night out. The English and Irish centres both have several bars and themed pubs that are close to home but also have a bit of a Spanish twist. So where to start? A good one is Lineker's Bar for pre-partying drinks or an evening of merry singing.

Playa Del Ingles Family Holidays

The largest resort in Gran Canaria, Playa del Ingles is a popular beach with great facilities for both lounging and sporting activities. It shares its 8 kilometres stretch with nearby smaller resorts, Maspalomas and San Agustin. With activities for all the family, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

With a long stretch of beachfront cafés and restaurants, you can choose from a vast selection of International cuisine as well as more traditional foods. As well as this, snacks and your fast food fixes are available on the beach so even the fussy ones will find something!

Things to do in and around Playa del Ingles include the huge Aqualand water theme park for all things watery and fun and boat cruises on glass-bottomed boats. For something a little more unusual you could visit Mundo Aborigen, a recreation of an ancient Canary Village.

For families of all sizes and requirements, you have the freedom to choose from a selection of self-catering apartments and fully-serviced hotels. Hotel Escorial is a popular choice with its central location and close proximity to all the shopping centres and beach resorts.
